Staying Well While Staying Home During COVID-19
As the world is focused on COVID-19 this a reminder to pay greater focus to your own personal health during these uncertain times. We've devised tips to enhance your own personal health while providing tools so you can feel in control.
1. Stay active. Daily walking is important in maintaining a healthful lifestyle. In addition to walking, many fitness facilities are offering free online videos to promote daily activity.
2. Keep common areas clean. Maintaining a clean home is a front line defense against bacteria and virus.
3. Wash your hands. Ensure all household members are washing their hands frequently.
4. Meditate. Stress is at an all time high for many. Setting aside time for yourself to decompress and deep breathe without any distractions. As little as 5-minutes is helpful.
5. Healthful Eating. While stress can encourage us to choose sugary sweets and treats, your best line of defense is supporting your immune system with healthful foods. Choosing fruits, vegtables and beans first then filling your plate with smaller portions of other items.
6. Unplug. While it is important to stay connected to what is happening around the world and our local community, too much television and social media can provoke stress. Take time outdoors, read a book or enjoy a walk alone.
7. Maintain your medication management plan. Do not adjust or alter your medication plan without contacting your provider.
