Is Your Pillow Causing Your Neck Pain?

Sleeping position and pillow placement on the neck have a lot to do with your quality of sleep and neck strain. Use these tips below to choose the best pillow and position for your neck.

1. Foam contour pillows that adapt to your position are best for supporting your neck.

2. Feather pillows can cause the most neck pain because they lack stability. They feel comfortable when you settle in, but as you sleep they lose their form and ability to support your neck.

3. Body pillows and side pillows are helpful. These pillows can provide support to side lying sleepers. They can assist in keeping the spine aligned.

4. Sleeping on your back with your head bent forward will add to neck strain.

5. A pillow should keep your neck parallel to the mattress, rather than bent down or up.
