Does CBD Help With Arthritis Pain?
There are over 100 different types of arthritis, chances are you or someone you know suffers from the pain. Additionally, what works for one condition may not work for others. In addition, everyone experiences pain very differently. However, CBD shown to be promising in anti-inflammatory and pain relieving effects. Most recently, a randomized trial of topical CBD for knee osteoarthritis.
While the study only lasted 12 weeks, the study concluded "substantial evidence that cannabis is an effective treatment for chronic pain in adults." More study is needed, but CBD is demonstrating to be another tool to aid in pain management and relief.
For those considering CBD here are some additional "DO" and "DON'T" considerations.
DO:
- Choose a CBD you can obtain from a health care provider in conjunction with understanding how to properly dose yourself.
- CBD is one tool in overall pain management including nonmedication options such as exercise and cognitive behavioral therapy.
- Establish goals with your healthcare provider.
DON'T:
- Don't have nonmedical practitioners managing your pain management.
- For people with rheumatoid arthritis or related conditions, do not stop prescribed medications that may be protecting your joints.
- Discuss any changes to your medication regimen with your physician.
